Announcing Original Wiggle Greg Page in Annie the Musical

Producer John Frost for Crossroads Live has announced today that Greg Page will play the role of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the upcoming Broadway musical Annie. Page is best known as the original Yellow Wiggle in the globally beloved children’s entertainment group, The Wiggles. The new Australian production of Annie plays at the Capitol Theatre from 25 March, before moving to Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from July. 

A trained musician and accomplished vocalist, Page’s passion for performing began early. He quickly became a household name as part of The Wiggles. During his time with the group, Greg co-created numerous hit songs, television series, and live tours, helping to cement their place as icons of children’s entertainment. 

Page joins a stellar cast, led by Anthony Warlow as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks and Debora Krizak as Miss Hannigan. Rising star Mackenzie Dunn will play Lily St. Regis, while Keanu Gonzalez will step into the role of “Rooster” Hannigan. Amanda Lea LaVergne plays Grace Farrell.

The four gifted young performers who will share the titular role of Annie are Beatrix Alder, Matilda Casey, Dakota Chanel and Stephanie McNamara

Sharing the role of Pepper will be Kiki Kersten, Francesca Kong and Matilda Teiotu. The role of Duffy will be shared by Camille Nko’o, Bianca Papa and Olivia Scott. Sharing the role of Kate will be Elle Boesen, Yasha Glaperin and Skylah McMah. The role of Tessie will be shared by Chloe Delle-Vedove, Nina Gallas and Ava Palfreyman. Sharing the role of July will be Pearl Mason, Cailin Scully and Victoria Togias. The role of Molly will be shared by Ellie Lang, Arianna Lorusso and Willow Wilson. Sharing the role of Friday will be Yeshi Jehru, Zoe Reeves, Skye Spiden and Aleia Taliacos

The talented ensemble cast includes Luke Alleva, Cameron Boxall, Tim Brown, Emily Casey, Nakita Clarke, Andrew Dunne, Sebastian Johnston, Anna Mallows, Chloë Marshall, Kristina McNamara, Tom New, Ryan Orphel, Madeline Pratt, Lisa Sontag, Suzanne Steele and Dean Vince

One of the most awarded and loved musicals of all time, the iconic score features classics like It’s the Hard-Knock Life, Easy Street and Tomorrow. Annie is truly a timeless masterpiece, with a book and score written by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin. 

Based on the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie which debuted in 1924 and ran for over 80 years, the musical Annie burst into popularity in 1977 when it opened on Broadway. The musical won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score. It also won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, and the Grammy® for Best Cast Show Album.

After the Broadway run of almost six years, Annie has played in more than 22 countries worldwide including the UK, Argentina, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Australia. In 1982, Annie became a smash-hit movie musical starring Aileen Quinn, Albert Finney and Carol Burnett. The film is adored worldwide and a fixture of popular culture references. 

Annie is a celebration of hope, family and friendship. This small but mighty young girl has returned to stick out her chin and grin once more! 

Annie opens at the Capitol Theatre Sydney on 25 March and runs until 1 June. It will play at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne from July.
