Melbourne based theatre company AG Theatre is thrilled to announce that they are returning with a brand-new season of the classic fable The 3 Little Pigs back to the stage this July school holidays playing for a limited season at the historic National Theatre, Melbourne from 9 July.
The 55-minute children’s musical is a contemporary version of an old tale. Centred around a mother pig who wants her three little piglets to move out and make their own homes. They resist, stomp and cry but they soon realise they have no choice. They march off together into woods with their bag of acorns from Mother Pig, who watches with enthusiasm having finally reclaimed her space and freedom.
This much-loved piece of theatre is written by celebrated writers Stiles & Drewe, the Olivier Award winning minds behind Mary Poppins, Honk! and Peter Pan – A Musical Adventure. Australian writer of folklore Joseph Jacobs (1854-1916) initially made the story popular. Though it first appeared in print in Nursery Rhymes of England in the UK in 1886. The endearing story has gone on to have a universal appeal to children for nearly 140 years.
