Following their sold-out inaugural season of Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens, Heirlume Productions is teaming up with Forest Collective to present the iconic Fosse musical Sweet Charity which runs 18 – 28 June 2026 at Chapel Off Chapel in Melbourne.
Celebrating 60 years this year, Heirlume’s production of Sweet Charity follows the adventures of the ever-endearing Charity Hope Valentine, across 1960s New York City…but not quite how you remember it.
Capturing a world suspended between The Lavender Scare and the Stonewall Riots, this Sweet Charity reimagines this classic through a new lens; infusing its beloved characters and legendary score with a queer love story and a tale of self-discovery and acceptance.
Charity Hope Valentine will be played by Erica Wild. Erica is an incredibly in-demand Australian talent – they’re fresh from the International tour of The Rocky Horror Show and about to head straight to the Australian premiere of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.
The production team includes Producer/Dramaturg Manda Rozen-Flannery (she/her), Director/Choreographer Lochlan Erard (he/they) and Musical Director Evan J Lawson (he/they).
Completing the creative team is Assistant Choreographer/Onstage Swing Jesse Matthews (he/him). Assistant Musical Director Max Kielly (he/him). Stage Manager Samara Louise (she/her). Lighting/Set Designer Ruben Laine (he/him) and Sound Designer Lukas Battey (he/him).
