Ballet Theatre Queensland (BTQ) is delighted to bring the timeless fairytale Cinderella to the Gold Coast these school holidays. Running from 11 to 13 July at The Star Theatre, Cinderella is perfect for the whole family and marks BTQ’s exciting debut at this premier venue.
Under the experienced direction of Artistic Director Clare Morehen, who also choreographed the production, Cinderella promises a breathtaking retelling of the much-loved story. Each performance will feature 49 talented young dancers aged 8 to 21 years old. They are supported by seven professional guest artists, delivering a vibrant and visually rich performance.
Accompanying the dancers live on stage are the incomparable musicians of the Cadenza Chamber Players, conducted by BTQ’s Executive and Music Director, the masterful Lucas D. Lynch. BTQ proudly presents all of its productions with live music, enriching each performance with the magic of a fully immersive theatrical experience.
Every detail is brought to life by experienced professional theatre-makers, featuring breathtaking sets, exquisite costumes, and the highest standards of artistic excellence.
BTQ Artistic Director Clare Morehen said:
“At the heart of BTQ’s mission is our commitment to nurturing the next generation of professional dancers. We are especially proud to welcome back a number of BTQ alumni this season, many of whom have been pursuing professional training and careers both in Australia and overseas. Their return to the company in a variety of roles is a wonderful celebration of the pathways BTQ continues to provide.”
In line with this commitment, BTQ is thrilled to announce two prestigious secondment opportunities for dancers from the Cinderella company at the conclusion of the season. One dancer will undertake a secondment with the West Australian Ballet (Company), while another will travel to London for a secondment with the English National Ballet School. These opportunities reflect BTQ’s role as a key launching pad for young dancers with professional aspirations.
Cinderella is on now and has a strictly limited season running until 13 July at The Star Theatre, Gold Coast.
