Brisbane is set to welcome hundreds of male singers from across Australia this July as the triennial Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival returns, bringing together boys and men aged 10 to 80+ for an unforgettable celebration of music, community and connection.
Hosted by Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival and Brisbane’s acclaimed Birralee Blokes and Birralee Boys, the festival will take place on 3 – 4 July, culminating in a spectacular massed choir event on the prestigious Concert Hall stage of QPAC on Sunday 5 July.
The festival brings together singers in three age-based strands: Treble (younger singers), Youth, and Adult.
Over two inspiring days, participants rehearse and perform with outstanding conductors, learn new repertoire, build friendships and experience the joy of singing alongside others who share a passion for music.
Choirs and ensembles from across Australia, including participants from regional Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia, will join local singers for this unique national gathering.
Festival organisers are particularly encouraging adult men to take part. The Adult Strand is led by celebrated Brisbane musician, performer and conductor Emma Dean.
Festival Director Paul Holley said:
“Pemulwuy! is much more than a music festival. It creates a welcoming, uplifting and inclusive environment where boys and men can connect through shared artistic experiences, build confidence, form lasting friendships and experience the extraordinary power of singing together.”
Participants receive music and learning recordings ahead of the festival, enabling them to prepare the repertoire before arriving for rehearsals.
With growing awareness of the importance of social connection, wellbeing and positive community engagement for men and boys, organisers believe the festival offers a powerful opportunity to come together in a supportive and enriching environment.
Registrations are now open for individual singers wishing to participate in what is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most unique and rewarding male singing experiences.
Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival runs 3 – 4 July. The massed choir event runs 5 July 2026 at the Concert Hall, QPAC.
