Stage School Australia‘s highly anticipated musical Seussical will return to Brisbane stages next week. A vibrant celebration of storytelling and music, the show runs from 15 to 17 April at the Draney Theatre in Ashgrove.
Based on the beloved works of Dr Seuss, the dazzling production and catchy songs are perfect for families looking to experience the joy of live theatre over the April school holidays.
Seussical combines elements from some of Dr. Seuss’s most cherished books, including Horton Hears a Who!, Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat. It promises hilarious characters, colourful costumes, and enchanting musical numbers that will delight audiences of all ages. The high-energy extravaganza premiered on Broadway in 2000. It follows the sell-out success of Stage School Australia’s The Wizard of Oz in September 2024.
More than a musical, Seussical marks a significant milestone in Stage School Australia’s growing Queensland presence. Since expanding into Brisbane in 2022, the nationally renowned performing arts school has uncovered an incredible wealth of young talent, proving that the Sunshine State is home to the next generation of rising stars.
With a strong focus on industry-leading training and professional-standard performance opportunities, Stage School Australia nurtures aspiring actors, singers and dancers, helping them build confidence, creativity and lifelong performance skills.
Associate Artistic Director and Lead Teacher for Drama in Brisbane Georgia New, emphasised the importance of making performing arts accessible to all young Australians.
“It has been incredible to witness so many aspiring performers grow in confidence and skill through Stage School Australia. Expanding to Brisbane has allowed us to provide more opportunities for kids to explore the magic of theatre. We are so excited to continue building this thriving creative community,” New said.
“The talent in Queensland is truly outstanding. We discovered so many gifted young performers during auditions in February. Seussical will be a wonderful showcase of the incredible abilities and dedication of our students.”
Stage School Australia is celebrating over 40 years of providing young people with professional standard performance opportunities.
Established in 1984, it works with more than 6,000 students across Melbourne and Brisbane. It encompasses The Young Australian Broadway Chorus, Australian Youth Theatre, Beginners OnStage, Australian Boys Dance Academy, Talent Company of Australia, and The Costume + Staging Department.
Seussical runs from 15 – 17 April at the Draney Theatre, Marist College, Glenlyon Drive, Ashgrove Qld 4060.
