The magic begins on the Sunshine Coast this July when The Events Centre, Caloundra becomes the first stop on the Queensland regional tour of the internationally acclaimed stage production Room on the Broom.
Following its Sunshine Coast season, the production will continue to Mackay, Proserpine, Gladstone and Toowoomba, bringing the much-loved story to families across regional Queensland.
Presented by CDP KIDS, Room on the Broom is packed with songs, laughter and enchanting storytelling, the production follows a friendly witch and her cat as they soar through the sky on their broomstick. When a gust of wind blows away the witch’s hat, bow and wand, a dog, bird and frog come along for a ride.
But as more passengers climb aboard, disaster strikes when the broom snaps in two. With a hungry dragon looming, the adventure becomes a race to save the day.
The production comes from the team behind the smash-hit stage adaptations of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child and has delighted audiences across Australia with its combination of puppetry, music and theatrical magic.
Families attending Room on the Broom can arrive early and enjoy a range of pre-show craft activities, adding an extra layer of fun to their outing to the theatre.
Room on the Broom is adapted from the award-winning picture book by celebrated children’s author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler, published by Macmillan Children’s Books.
