Following a celebrated 2025 London revival, Taylor Made Productions is proud to announce the Australian premiere of Jake Brunger’s biting contemporary comedy, Four Play.
Directed by Cal Robinson-Taylor, this provocative exploration of modern queer intimacy opens on Wednesday 24 June at Chapel Off Chapel for a strictly limited five-performance engagement.
Four Play is a hilarious, sexy queer comedy about relationships, rules, and the moments when a “good idea” starts to wobble. Rafe and Pete are seven years into a very solid relationship. Like, really solid. Theyʼre happy. Theyʼre in sync. Thereʼs just one thing… neither of them has ever slept with anyone else. Ever.
So they do what any sensible couple would do: they talk it through, set some boundaries, and come up with a plan that feels safe, grown-up, and completely reasonable. Enter Michael— confident, charming, and in an open relationship with his partner Andy. Easy. Sorted. Right? Well. Maybe not.
Moving beyond traditional “coming out” narratives, Four Play is a state-of-the-nation look at the “post-marriage equality” generation. What follows is funny, awkward, unexpectedly tender, and just a bit too real—a sharp, playful look at what happens when desire doesn’t quite stick to the script.
Director Cal Robinson-Taylor notes that the play pulls back the curtain on the pressures modern queer couples face to present a flawless life:
