Review: Living In The ’70s by The 60 Four 2026 Adelaide Fringe

If you’re desiring a trip down memory lane or just an evening of funky ‘70s music, Living in the ‘70s by The 60 Four delivers such an experience with plenty of energy and colour.

From the show’s beginning, the tone is set as fast-paced, cheeky, and a fun celebration of the decade with the ‘best music.’ In their 10th year in the Adelaide Fringe, The 60 Four’s passion for this musical era has not faded, and they are still keen to share their talents and enthusiasm.

Ben Francis, the company’s Director and Founder, leads his fellow vocalists Finnegan Green, Lachlan Williams, and Jack Conroy to open the show with the energetic You Should Be Dancing by The Bee Gees.

From the familial banter in between songs to the songs themselves, it is evident that they work incredibly well together and have done so since leaving high school.

Francis masterfully captures the higher vocals of the Gibb brothers, while Green delightfully demonstrates his range in a famous hit by KISS. By comparison, Williams and Conroy favour the lower, richer tones of Daddy Cool and The Eagles.

With each taking turns to lead a song, matched to their vocal strength, it’s often hard to tell where one voice ends and one begins. Harmonies are well-practised and blend seamlessly together, remaining reminiscent of the original songs.

Choreography is a huge part of this performance and often involves either synchronised or complementary movements, which only adds to the vibrancy of the performance. The moves perfectly match the beat and the mood of the music being played.

The accompanying live band are superb, matching the vocalists’ energy and immediately recalibrating from one song to the next. Each musician is also given a moment to shine, demonstrating their musical prowess from the keyboard to the saxophone.

With the stage lit up in shades of blue, the bright orange jackets are a great contrast against the black background. They are rivalled only by the fabulous surprise change for the encore medley.

The 60 Four offer more than just a performance this Adelaide Fringe season. They deliver an immersive, celebratory experience of the ‘70s that feels more like a sing-along than a tribute concert.

Audiences are invited to sing, dance, and cheer to their heart’s delight as they are treated to a fantastic musical spectacle. It will certainly leave you wanting more.

Whether you’re a diehard fan of the era or just want something fun, you’ll come away from Living in the ‘70s wanting to dig out your old CDs or stream these classics for days afterwards.
